I thought I would tell you about the coolest date I had on Monday night. I met this guy on
Match.com, we both live outside of Chicago in a city called Northbrook. After exchanging some emails back and forth, I asked him for his phone number and I gave him a call.
We talked for hours, we had so much in common. Both of us are "only childs", no brothers or sisters, we both enjoy baseball and our CUBS. During the call, he told me is was a really good player of CHECKERS. I laughed, what a great ice breaker.
So, I told him I would bring a fruit basket and bottle of wine if he brought the CHECKERS game. We met at a very big, public park near my office after work and played Checkers, eat cheese and crackers and had a glass of wine. As the sun set, he gave me a kiss, asked me for my number and asked if he could call me for a 2nd date, then walked me to my car.
We're going out again this Friday night. It was just a nice, sweet, not overly pushy first date. And checkers, I hadn't played since I was a kid. It was the perfect game to play, while still being able to carry on a conversation.
