I like to read what you like to do.  If you like to sit at home and watch a DVD, say it.  If you would rather be out dancing, say that.  Both, that's ok too.

I connect with men's essays when I see we enjoy the same types of things.  If he says he loves to go watch a Angels game, then I can connect with him.

Leave out what you don't like to do.  Keep it on a positive upbeat.

In addition to the content of the note, I like to know if you can spell, and have good vocabulary and good grammar.

I'm a bit of an intellectual snob, and am looking for someone bright and educated. If there are misspellings  in your narrative, I pass on by.

My advice: use the spell checker!
