Match.com used to be my favorite site, plenty of people and many ways of finding just what you're looking for. But now it seems that they're just out to make a buck....The site used to allow you to send and receive "winks" a nice way of letting someone know that you were interested in them before actually joining.  While their prices have steadily risen their service and ease of use has progressively gotten worse. They no longer allow the winks or even to see who has sent you an e-mail without joining. What's worse is the continuous attempts to get you to join with taunts of "you've received a wink or e-mail"; but no clue of who sent it. I realize that the site needs to support itself and charge a fee but their previous business plan of only making you join in order to respond to someone was far more friendlier and in my opinion it was always much more of an enticement to join if I could see who it was I was joining for.

Pros: The photo's, the extensive critera used for the searches.  Their previous way of allowing recipients to see was winking or sending e-mails to them.

Cons: The way that they now restrict seeing who is winking at them or sending e-mails to subscribers only.  I would join again if they went back to that plan.

I've been on Match.com for about 2.5 years now, and I thought I'd give my final thoughts and true feelings about the internet dating scene (at least Match.com).  I think a lot of people will agree.

I've met some cool people along the way, but overall it has been a lousy experience!!  It has been fruitless, frustrating, and a major let down. Additionally, internet dating is terribly flawed and overhyped.   I started on Match.com with a positive and happy attitude (which I normally have) thinking I would meet a great girl and sparks would fly. 

Instead what I discovered is that everyone is hiding behind their computer which allows them to be ultra picky and flakey, and makes them able to disregard someone with the click of a button.  These personal ads should be called the impersonal ads.  The return on investment ratio is deplorable.  I can't count how many emails and winks I sent out only to get a lousy return rate.  I also found it amusing how women try to disguise that they're looking for a guy with money.  They say that they're looking for someone who is "successful", "ambitious", and "financially secure".  And no I'm not some ugly psycho.  I'm good looking, I have a good personality, college educated, and have a professional career.

Match encourages and tempts people to not settle and to eternally keep looking for that "Mr. or Mrs. Right".  Why do you think the email confirmation page says "check out these other members"?  Because Match.com wants people to stay on and keep paying!!  It is a major business and the bottom line is profit and the proliferation of the entity.

I read an article on msnbc.com a little while ago that slammed internet dating and they're right.

When scanning the ads on Match.Com , I have discovered this site has a few women's pictures posted on men's sites . This was not  men disguised as a women either, for I knew one of the women personally whose picture got put in the men's section.
