I am a seasoned internet dater. I've been finding dates on the Internet for about 7 years, through many of the internet dating sites. In the early days,
American Singles was THE place to be. Now, it's the place to be deceived (or at least ONE of them).
About three years ago, I belonged and had a profile out there. I met someone that I was dating seriously, so I removed my profile. A couple months later, a friend told me that she had seen my profile. Hmmm.
I recently signed on with a temporary membership to see if there was anyone worthwhile there. If there had been, I would have joined.
AmericanSingles.com send me email, suggesting some possible matches for me. One of them was someone that I had dated several years ago, and contacted through
AmericanSingles. However, several years later, she hasn't aged at all, and other than a profile name change, the profile was the same. Looking carefully at her profile revealed that she hadn't logged in since 1999, but her profile changed in 2001. When I joined, I searched the profiles in my area, and hers didn't show up in that search.
When you join
AmericanSingles, like most sites, you agree that they are allowed to use your profile for advertising purposes. What you don't realize is that they are going to use it FOREVER.
So, maybe that explains why you can write to the 'pretty people', but never get a response. That's because they don't exist. Now I'm not saying this is the case in all instances, just some of them. I have met some of the pretty people on these sites, but there are too many people that never respond.
Another thing that I noticed is that I had gotten 3 emails, which I would have to pay them money to see, but no one had reviewed my profile. Hmm, another interesting ite, Who was the email from? Probably
AmericanSingles membership services.
